Carles Subirana

Carles Subirana is a coach with more than 38 years of experience. He has been the Technical Director of the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation and the coach of the National Training Center.


He has had a long and successful career and has participated in many major international championships, including the European , European Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games, and has represented Spain and Denmark as a coach.


Carles has achieved numerous international results including producing various medalists in the European and World Championships, specifically in the area of swimming in pool and in open water, in which the following records stand out: 1. World Record and 2. European Record.


Carles is a trainer experienced in motivation and driving world-class swimmers to achieve their full potential and also has great knowledge about the latest techniques of planning and performance assessment with regard to high-level swimmers. He also has extensive working knowledge regarding the planning and control of high altitude training.


Richard Shoulberg

Coach Shoulberg has coached at the 1992 and 2000 Olympic Games placing 12 different swimmers on the USA Olympic Swim Team.

During the course of 60 years, he has also led American swim teams at a number of international competitions from the 1986 World championships to the 1983, 1991, 2003, and 2007 Pan American Games, and coached 2 world record holders while teaching swimming at the grass-roots level from pre-school through 12th grade stressing learn-to-swim, lifeguard certification and fitness training in five to six classes a day. The results have not gone unnoticed as Coach Schoulberg has been named American Swimming Coaches Association Coach of the Year twice (in 1982 and 1989).

Jim Steen

James "Jim" Steen was the head coach of the swim teams at Kenyon College from 1976 to 2012.[1]

Steen's teams have won more NCAA championships than any other team in any division or any sport.[1] The Lords have won 31 consecutive NCAA Division III championships, the first having been in 1980,[2] while the Ladies have won 23 (nonconsecutive) titles. In over 30 years at Kenyon, Coach Steen has developed over 150 NCAA champions and over 300 All-Americans.[3] He has coached several Olympic Trial qualifiers, Division I All-Americans, and been voted NCAA Division III Coach-of-the-year twelve times.[citation needed] He has also produced more post-graduate scholars than any other coach in any division, and places high importance on students' academic performance as well as athletic success.[1]

In 1996 Coach Steen took a one-year sabbatical from Kenyon College to consult with many of America's top coaches prior to the Atlanta Olympic Games.[3] He was also consulted during the designing and building of the swimming facilities for the Kenyon Athletic Center in 2002.[2] In August 2008, he was invited to give an informational "pep talk" to the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.[4]

Steen is the creator of the Power Rack, and began the Elite Swim Camps, which have grown to sports other than swimming.[citation needed]

Steen retired from coaching in 2012 after 36 years. He was replaced by Kenyon former Kenyon swimmer Jess Book, who has won three consecutive NCAA Division III titles.

Former Kenyon swimmers now coaching at the college level include NCAA Champion Coaches Gregg Parini (Denison) and Jon Howell (Emory)

Peter Gartrell

With over 40 years experience Peter has been a regular member of the Australian Team Coaching Staff since 1989. Peter has attended all major worldwide competitions including 3 Olympics, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and many others. He has coached multiple Olympians and has been honoured as a hall of fame member by Swimming Australia

Peter Carswell

Peter Carswell is a Qualified Swim Coach with over 25 years’ experience demonstrating quantifiable achievements from grassroots through to Olympian levels. Strong history of managing, coaching and mentoring individuals and teams of young and professional swimmers; committed to introducing new techniques and developing potential athletes.

Partha Pratim Majumder is a FINA certified ASCA level 5 certified swimming coach. With over 20 years of experience, Partha has an experience of coaching both in India and Abroad.

He has done Master in Sports Science from Institute of Sports Science and Technology.

Bushan Kumar is one of the foremost coaches in India with over 25 years of coaching experience. He has trained and produced multiple champions at the International and National levels.He is an ASCA level 5 coach.

Bushan was also the team coach for Karnataka for multiple events between 1995 to 2012. Smita Divgikar

Smita Divgikar(Desai) has been the recepient of Arjuna Award in Swimming, which is the highest award given by Govt of India and the Shiv Chhatrapati Award given by Govt of Maharashtra.

Smita was a National Champion for 12 years and held various national records. She also held records at South Asian level.

She has been an outstanding and popular swim coach producing more than 40 national gold medallists at sub junior and junior level.

Coached for last 35 years at various clubs like Khar Gymkhana, Otters Club, NSCI, Ozone, Breach Candy, Bombay Gymkhana, Willingdon Sports Club and presently at Glenmark Aquatic Foundation.

Smita has been coach of Maharashtra team, is nominated on the Khelo India TIDC committee, on the selection committee of Swimming Federation of India, on Greater Mumbai Aquatic committee.

Komal Athare

Komal is among the best backstroke swimmers from India. A National swimming Champion Komal had a swimming career from 1999 to 2006 which was cut shot by injury. In addition to winning over a 100  medals at State and National events she has represented India in multiple International meets including Asian Age group meets and the Afro Asian games.

Post her swimming career Komal pursued her MBA in finance and dabbled in the corporate world for a year. Realizing her true passion She joined GAF in August 2015 to give back to swimming. She is easily one of the best young coaches from India.




Sathish Kumar

Sathish had started swimming at the age of 6 and started competitive swimming at 9. During his competitive swimming career he had participated in many competitions and secured more than 500 odd medals, several Individual championship in all age categories.

He has represented Tamil Nadu state for 4 times in National sub junior and junior age group championship and won 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. In the National School games Satish has won over 5 medals.  Satish represented Madras University 2 Times in All India Inter university meet and secured 1 gold and silver.

Sathish Played water polo for Tamil Nadu state in south zone meets and won Bronze.

With his love and passion for sport he started part time coaching in 2012. After pursuing the NIS (diploma in sports coaching) degree in 2014, he started his professional career as swimming coach. Sathish is a FINA certified ASCA level 1 and 2 qualified Swimming coach



Guruprasad R

Guruprasad R is a Natural Science graduate with a certificate in Business Management from XLRI. He was a national level competitive swimmer and has represented Karnataka in Sub-Junior and Junior Level Nationals. He has more than 20 years of experience as a swimming coach. He worked as a part-time swimming coach in centers like BAC, We fitness center and Ray Center, Bangalore.

He is associated with competitive swimming for more than 2 decades. He has worked as a coaching administrator, assisting the head coach in documentation and data analysis of elite swimmers. He also has good exposure in the IT domain and is constantly working towards leveraging his overall experience to help competitive swimming coaching. Sarojini Devi A.A.

Sarojini is one of the talented young swim coaches in India. She has topped the NIS 2014-15 batch in Swimming, Sports Physiology and Sports Medicine.She has completed her internship from the Sports Authority of India and later joined Sports Authority of Tamilnadu, Madurai as a visiting coach wherein she has produced state level and national level medalists. One of her swimmers has created 2 National records in the 9th Asian Age Group Championships 2017. She again joined the Sports Authority of India in November 2017 and since then training SAINSA swimmers at Dr. SPM Swimming Pool Complex, New Delhi.
Sarojini has represented Tamil Nadu team at National level for 29 times. She has secured 201 State level and 42 district level medals along with 11 individual championship trophies at the State level and 7 at the District level.

Arindam Gogoi

Arindam is a B. Com graduate and carries a Masters’ degree in Tourism Management. He has completed his diploma in sports coaching in swimming in the year 2015-16 from NSNIS Bengaluru. He has won several medals as a swimmer in Sub-junior Nationals and School Games and has also participated in 2 senior Nationals, 2 Inter-University Games along with 2 National Games representing Assam.
He has 2 years coaching experience in Bengaluru wherein he has conducted several summer camps and taught swimming to beginners. He has worked with Assam Government for one and a half years and then joined Sports Authority of India in 2017 and since then training distance swimmers at SAINSA.

Swapnil Dnyaneshwar Chikte

Swapnil is from Amravati Maharashtra and has 11 years of experience in teaching and coaching swimming from grassroots to advance level. Studied Diploma in Sports Coaching (Swimming) at Sports Authority of India, NIS Bangalore. Also, he has completed AustSwim 'Teacher and water safety' and 'Towards competitive strokes' licenses. Currently working with Sports Authority of India at Dr. S.P.M. Swimming pool complex, New Delhi coaching swimmers at SAINSA.

Saravana Kumar

Saravana Kumar is an experienced sports physiotherapist with over 6 years of experience. He has completed his Bachelors of Physiotheraphy followed by a post graduate diploma in exercise theraphy.

Saravana initially worked as a platinum level personal trainer and a consultant physiotherapist.  He was a consultant to the Bangalore Bulls Kabaddi team.

Prior to joining GAF, Saravana worked with the Bengaluru Football Club (BFC) who were the I-league champions in 2013-14 and 2015-16. He has worked with International footballers and the current Indian football captain Sunil Chettri and Robin Singh.  He has worked with International coaches like Ashley Westwood, Malcom Purchase, Shyamal Vallabjee, Pradyum Reddy and Randhir Singh.

Saravana is also an expert on Myofascial release, Dry needling, Taping technique and Rehabilitaion


Viraj Pandya

Viraj Pandya is a strength and conditioning expert and has an experience of over a decade working with sportspersons across multiple sports.

She has worked with many corporate & educational institutions as a freelancer, content developer for trainings & workshop consultant. Market Research Projects have also been done by her on consumer psychology for various companies for their products. She has been a guide to students for their research projects & internships in the fields of developmental psychology, organizational behavior & its application. As a scholar and publisher she has many research articles in various journals to her credit. She is also a Co-author and a peer reviewer of various psychology books run by various universities. Owing to her multi-faceted experience in dealing with teachers, students, parents and her understanding of needs, deficits & ideologies of each of the segment, has helped her in carving her niche in Sports Psychology as well. As a Psychologist, she is associated with different academies and is successfully handling National & International Level Sports persons.

Heath Mathews

Heath trained in South Africa and has worked as a sports physiotherapist for over 14 years. He is passionate about sport and sports medicine and his passion has moulded his career.
He began as team physiotherapist for professional rugby, soccer, athletics and cycling teams in South Africa, while based out of Kings Park Sports Medicine Centre in Durban from 2003 to 2006. He formed close working relationships with two professional tennis players which lead him to the professional tennis circuit where he worked on both the men’s and women’s tours for two years. Heath worked with multiple top 10 ranked players and his work with top Indian players Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi, facilitated his transition into the position of Director of Performance for the Mittal Champions Trust.
The subsequent four years were spent managing the sports science and medicine programs for 40 of India’s top Olympic Athletes in 8 Olympic Sports including Athletics, Archery, Boxing, Badminton, Sailing, Swimming, Squash, Shooting and Wrestling. During this time he travelled with multiple National Teams to their respective World Championships and other international competitions. The highlight was the Beijing Olympics with the Indian Team 2008.
Heath has spent the past 5 years managing the Centre for Sports Medicine at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, as well as sharing his love of distance running with Anil Ambani. He has been involved in development of the Centre for Sports Medicine as well as setting up the sports science and medicine programs, training staff, consulting with sports people from grass roots level to professional athletes.

Dr. Naveena Natarajan

With an M.Sc degree in Foods and Nutrition from Women’s Christian College, the University of Madras in 2009, she did a role of Nutrition Instructor in Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW-TN), Chennai in the area of Nutrition and Health, collaborated with Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi. Then, she joined the National Institute of Nutrition in October 2011 as Researcher and awarded Ph.D., Nutrition from Osmania University in 2018. Currently, she is working as Sports Nutritionist in Human Performance Lab, Sports Authority of India, and New Delhi. Her research interests include the role of nutrition in various sports activity. Besides, she is also working to understand the impact of food and nutrition on clinical and public health. She was awarded JRF and SRF from UGC.
