Team GAF win 13 medals at the 9th Asian Age Group Championships at Uzbekistan

Team GAF won a total of 13 medals (individual and relay) at the 9th Asian Age Group Championships at Uzbekistan recently. 9 Swimmers from GAF participated in the Event.

From the GAF Mumbai team Vedant Bapna won an individual bronze in the 200m backstroke and a silver in the 4*100 Individual Medley. Xavier Dsouza won two silvers one in the 4*200 Freestyle and the other in the 4*100 Medley and a bronze in the 4*100 Medley. Aaron partnered Xavier in the 4*200 Freestyle winning silver.

The Swimmers from the SAI Glenmark TIDM program in Delhi had a wonderful outing as well. Swadesh Mondal won 3 individual bronze medals in the 100 Breaststroke, 200 Breaststroke and the 200m Individual Medley while he won a silver in the 4*100 m Medley relay. Kushagra Rawat won an individual bronze in the 200m Freestyle and 400 Freestyle and won a bronze in the 4*100 m Freestyle and the 4*200 m Freestyle. Veer Khattar won a gold in the 4*100 Freestyle relay.

Swadesh Mondal picks up Individual Championships as SGTIDM Swimmers excel

Swadesh Mondal was adjudged the best swimmer in the Boys Group II category in the 44th Glenmark Junior National Aquatic Championship. The Swimmers from SGTIDM performed exceedingly well at the event. Swadesh, Anubhuti,Annie,Uttara,Astha,Firdoush,Tanisha,Veer,Kushagra and Bhargav raked in Individual medals while Army Pal and Aryan Vernekar won medals in the relay. Swadesh also picked up a medal in the relay.

In the 34th Glenmark Sub- Junior National Aquatic Championship Surabin Reang won 2 medals while Ansu Kar picked up a medal in the relay

Clive Rushton

It is with great sadness we inform that Clive Rushton, GAF’s first Technical Director, lost his battle with cancer and passed away on June 12, 2017. Clive was instrumental in providing GAF with a global outlook to its coaches and swimmers. Our centers in Mumbai and Delhi greatly benefitted under his mentorship. He was a source of energy for the entire team and was greatly respected by all of us at GAF. Clive’s contribution to GAF will be fondly remembered. We stand with his family during this difficult period and we pray that his soul rest in peace.

Glenmark Aquatic Foundation to be the title sponsor for the Age group National Championship

As a part of its commitment to transform the ecosystem of swimming in India, Glenmark Aquatic Foundation will be the title sponsor for the upcoming 34th Glenmark Sub Junior National Aquatic Championships and 44th Glenmark Junior Aquatic Championships to be held at the Shiv Chhatrapati Complex at Balewadi Pune.

The  34th Glenmark Sub Junior National Aquatic Championships would be held between 28th-30th June 2017 and the 44th Glenmark Junior Aquatic Championships between 3rd-6th July 2017.

GAF and SGTIDM Swimmers win 17 medals at the Thailand Age Group Swimming Championships 2017.

18 Swimmers representing India Swimmers who train at the Glenmark Aquatic Foundation (GAF) and SAI Glenmark TIDM ( Talent Identification Development and Management) program won a total 5 Gold, 8 Silvers and 4 Bronze medals at the Thailand Age Group Swimming Championships held at Bangkok between April 1st– 5th 2017 .

The Thailand Age Group Swimming Championships is a FINA recognized event which is also a qualifier for major International meets including the World Swimming Championships at Budapest. A total of  1000 swimmers participated in the Event.

National Champion Swadesh Mondal won a total of 3 golds and 3 silvers to emerge as one of the best swimmers at the Event. The other medal winners included Kushargra Rawat (1 Gold, 1 Silver), Xavier Dsouza ( 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze), Bastab Tapan Bordoloi (1 Silver, 1 Bronze), Vedant Bapna ( 1 Silver), Annie Jain ( 1 Silver)  and Jyotsna Pansare ( 2 Bronze).

 

The 18 swimmers were supported by  Glenmark Aquatic Foundation as a part of its objective  to produce International Champions by transforming the ecosystem of swimming in India. Glenmark Aquatic Foundation has Olympian Clive Rushton as its technical Director, Peter Carswell who has coached Olympian Leah Nealle from Australia to the Rio Olympics as Head Coach Mumbai. Partha Pratim Majumdar heads the coaching in Delhi. The other coaches include Mr. Bushan Kumar, Arjuna Awardee winner Smita Divgikar Senior coaches D.S. Chikara, Ms. Parampal Johar and National Champions Komal Athare and Sathish Kumar. GAF has also tied up with Sports Authority of India and Swimming Federation of India.

3 Swimmers from SGTIDM to represent India at the World School Games

Annie Jain, Priyank Rana and Varun Patel from the SAI Glenmark TIDM program in Delhi have been selected to represent India at the World School Games to be held in Budapest.

The three swimmers were selected on the basis of their performance at the trials organized at the Shiv Chhatrapati Swimming Complex at Balewadi Pune on 18th March 2017.

The World School Games shall be held in Budapest between 25th-30th April 2017.

SGTIDM top Medal Tally at 1st All India National Club Championships

Swimmers from SAI Glenmark TIDM programme at Delhi topped the medal tally at the 1st All India Invitational Inter Club Swimming Championships held at Hyderabad. The SGTIDM contingent won a total of 16 Golds, 6 Silvers and 3 Bronze medals.

Swadesh Mondal and Veer Khattar shared the Championships in Boys Group III with a total tally of 21 points while Astha Choudhury won the Championships in Group III Girls with a tally of 21 points.
